Location
Place: Photography Studio in college

Image:

 Why location is appropriate?
This location will work well for my magazine as it will give my images a plain white background with no mess or clutter that can be found in usual places i.e. at home. I can also control my lighting well so I can produce images ideal for my magazine production. With the benefit of having good lightening and good setting I can edit my photos well to enhance colours and make them glossy to give my magazine the perfect theme that I’m aiming to get.
Props + costumes
Props:
·         Pillows
·         Plain white backdrop
·         Lollipops
·         Variety of dresses
I used to pillows to give my shoot a theme, making the whole shoot feel like a pillow fight.
I used a plain white backdrop to stop the images from looking cluttered and messy, i wanted my images to be plain and therefore have a more professional feel.
I used the lollipops to give a playful, girly-ness to the shoot and to bring in some colour and fun.
I use the variety of dresses to create a border to the bottom of the image and also to add more colour into the images.
Costumes:
·         Pink chain and animal print dress
·         Blue chain and animal print dress
I used the same dresses but in different colours for my shoot to make my models match.

Drafting
Masthead:

Layout ideas:
·         Front cover – one main image with masthead behind image and various articles down the left side of the page.
·         Contents – writing down the left side and one main image.
·         Double page spread - one main image, with a big space to the left for the title etc to be placed in big bold font.
Mode of address: my mode of address would be informal to enable my product to appeal to a variety of students without making it an academic based product.
Colour scheme: my colour schemes will be to stand out on my images, my images have bright white backgrounds with bright colours for the dresses etc in the images, and the pillows used are pink therefore the use of bold blacks will stand out on the colours found in the images.

Timeline Outlining What You Need To Do And When
Day Of The Photo Shoot
Date of shoot: Thursday 17th March 2011
Location: Photography Studio
Time: 8:45 – 10:10

8:45-9:05 – model preparation - models get changed and do their hair and make-up in preparation for the shoot. I asked for them to have long, slightly wavy hair, dark eye make-up and bright lipstick to appeal to my hip-hop audience.
9:05-9:30 – set up lighting and set – place various dresses and lollipops etc around the studio backdrop to set the scene, also adjust the lighting to get desired effect. I decided to do this to give the shoot a girly theme and to make it appealing to the female audience but also the male audience who would be interested in the sex appeal that the models show.
9:30 – 10:00 – photo shoot - for the next half an hour I will be able to take various photos capturing the images that I need using different camera shots and angles to get the right one. I will be looking for shots that give sex appeal for my male audience and a girly theme to attract my female audience; I will also be looking to get more natural, fun shots to give the shoot a happy theme consistently.
10:00-10:10 – tidy set and models changing time – once I have achieved my desired shots I then need to tidy the studio put lights in their usual positions and put away my props. Whilst I tidy the studio this will be the time for my models to get changed.

Storyboard Style Drawings Showing Shot Types Used In Photoshoot

For the drafting of my shots I thought about what that image could be used for, taking into account the composition and positioning of the camera and models. By this I mean that for the double page spread if used a landscape image to fill both pages and also with the composition I left some space blank to enable to add text easily.
